YAHWEH, THE GOD OF ISRAEL, IS WITH US!

“Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins...”
( Isaiah 58: 1)

The Trumpet's Message

The Trumpet’s Message

Reading: Revelation Chapters 8 & 9

1. The Trumpet

The Hebrew word ‘shofar’ is translated ‘trumpet’ more often than not in the Old Testament. Like the two ‘silver trumpets’ mentioned in Numbers 10, the ‘shofar,’ or ram's horn trumpet, was also used on numerous occasions by the prophets and people of Israel.

The Almighty's Sabbaths, we know are:

2. The Trumpet’s Message

As explained in our article on The Shofar, its message is extremely meaningful. The sound of the shofar calls to mind:

3. The Trumpet’s Sound

The blast of the trumpet, (shofar) with its unique, piercing sound could be heard for miles around; and when it sounded at an unexpected time, fear gripped the hearts of the people.

Amos 3: 6: Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
7: Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

Zephaniah 1: 14: The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.
15: That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,
16: A DAY OF THE TRUMPET and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.

Explicit & Detailed

1 Corinthians 14: 8: For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?
9: So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.

Exposes Sin In Zion

Messages symbolized by the shofar always expose sin. There is no uncertainty, no vague hints, no ambiguity, but a clearly understood message which exposes disobedience.

Isaiah 58: 1: Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.”

Joel 2: 1: Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand.

Jeremiah 51: 27: Set ye up a standard in the land, blow the trumpet among the nations…”

4. Listen For The Trumpet of Yahweh

The prophet Jeremiah in vision actually heard the Trumpet of Yahweh that will sound all over the earth. Listen to his words:

Jeremiah 4: 19: My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart maketh a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.”

Read these chapters if time permits.

Isaiah 27: 13: And it shall come to pass in that day, that the GREAT TRUMPET shall be blown. and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem.

Zechariah 9: 14: “And the LORD shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning: and the LORD GOD shall blow the trumpet, and shall go with whirlwinds of the south.
15: The LORD of hosts shall defend them; and they shall devour, and subdue with sling stones; and they shall drink, and make a noise as through wine; and they shall be filled like bowls, and as the corners of the altar.

Isaiah 18: 3: All ye inhabitants of the world, and dwellers on the earth, see ye, when He lifteth up an ensign on the mountains; and when He bloweth a trumpet, hear ye.”

5. A Tragic But Popular Response

It is an absolute tragedy that, like Israel of old, millions of people pay little or no attention to the Almighty's Word and the warnings it contains. Blindly they stagger on, refusing to acknowledge the Creator's presence, His Word, His Law and His offer of salvation through His only begotten Son Yeshua the Messiah. This is the greatest mistake the human race has ever made and - alas - is still making! Most people are not interested in the messages from the Bible. They have their own agenda and most will do as they please. This is true of many Christians.

Jeremiah 6: 17: Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.”

6. Concluding Questions

7. Trumpeters / Watchmen

Regardless of the world's response, or even that of the popular churches, trumpeters must sound the alarm and warn the world. Our lives depend upon passing on the message. We dare not keep silent.

Ezekiel 33: 1: Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2: Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman:
3: If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people;
4: Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.
5: He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.
6: But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand.
