Text Based On Matthew Chapter 13
But he that received seed into the good
ground is he that heareth the word, and
understandeth it; which also beareth fruit,

Oft As The Precious Seed Is Sown

Almighty God, Thy Word is cast
Like seed into the ground;
Now let the dew of heaven descend,
And righteous fruits abound.

Let not the foe of Christ and man
Thy holy seed remove,
But give it root in every heart
To bring forth fruits of love.

Let not the world's deceitful cares
Thy rising plant destroy.
But let it yield a hundredfold
The fruits of peace and joy.

Nor let Thy Word so kindly sent
To raise us to Thy throne
Return to Thee, and sadly tell
That we reject Thy Son.

Oft as the precious seed is sown,
Thy quick'ning grace bestow,
But all whose souls Thy truth receive,
Thy saving power may know.

Great God, come down and on Thy Word
Thy mighty power bestow,
That all who hear the joyful sound,
Thy saving grace may know.
