Text Based On John Chapter 4
And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth
fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and
he that reapeth may rejoice together.
The Seed We Have Scattered !
The seed we have scattered in springtime with weeping,
And watered with tears and with dews from on high;
Another may shout when the harvester's reaping,
Shall gather our grain in the "sweet by and by."
Refrain
Over and over, yes, deeper and deeper
Our heart is pierced through with life's sorrowing cry,
But the tears of the sower and the songs of the reaper
Shall mingle together in joy by and by.
By and by, by and by,
By and by, by and by,
Yes, the tears of the sower and the songs of the reaper
Shall mingle together in joy by and by.
Another may reap what in springtime we've planted,
Another rejoice in the fruit of our pain,
Not knowing our tears when in summer we fainted
While toiling sad-hearted in sunshine and rain.
Refrain
The thorns will have choked and the summers suns blasted
The most of the seed which in springtime we've sown;
The Lord Who has watched while our weary toil lasted
Will give us a harvest for what we have done.
Refrain
