Text Based On Genesis Chapter 1
And God said, Let there be lights in
the firmament of the heaven to divide
the day from the night: and let them be
for SIGNS, and for SEASONS, and for
days, and years.

Signs, Thou Wilt Declare

Most holy Lord and God of Heaven,
Who to the glowing sky hast given
The glows that in the east are born
With gradual splendors of the morn;

Who, on the fourth day, thou didst reveal
The sun's enkindled flaming zeal,
Didst set the moon its ordered ways,
And stars their ever winding maze;

That each in its own appointed way
Will separate the night from day,
And of Thy seasons throughout the year
Thy signs as well, Thou wilt declare;

Illuminate our hearts O LORD within,
And cleanse our minds from stain of sin;
Unburdened of our guilty load
May we unfettered serve Thee well.

O heavenly Father, we ask it be done,
Through Jesus Christ, Thine only Son;
Who, with the Holy Ghost and Thee,
Doth live and reign eternally.
